How Do We Teach Design?
About This Survey...
Hello! I’m Eric Junker, a practicing designer and lecturer at the University of Southern California. Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time reflecting on how college and university-level design education aligns with the fast-changing world of design practice—and I’d love to hear your insights. I have no agenda. The survey is not sanctioned by the university. I'm just genuinely curious about what people are thinking. Thanks for taking the time!

My Background
I’m currently a Lecturer in design at USC’s Roski School of Design. I teach a broad range of classes from design fundamentals to advanced courses that include an emphasis on design philosophy, business communication, and entrepreneurship
I was founding creative partner at the Wagner/Junker Agency. In my current creative practice, I’ve contributed design, art, and ideas to clients including Netflix, Oculus, Louis Vuitton, Madewell, Patagonia, Coach, Target, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. My work has been featured by CBS This Morning, NBC LA, ABC 7, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Cool Hunting, Elle Décor, and Angelino Magazine. I’m deeply involved in non-profits that focus on environmental causes like pediatric cancer research, and empowering homeless youth.
I also channel my restless energy into painting murals that draw from the dynamic colliding energies of my life in urban Los Angeles and my deep passion for nature and outdoor adventure. My California-inspired, psychedelic nature-pop murals can be found throughout Southern California and beyond, reaching as far as New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mexico, Costa Rica, and New York City.
